Leeds Libraries are introducing a new management system from Thursday 8 October 2026.
We are working alongside other library services in the wider Yorkshire and Humber region to improve the services we provide and keep costs down.
Once the new system is in place, we will also introduce a new library app. More information about the app will be shared soon.
Temporary loss of some services, 2 to 7 October
From Friday 2 to Wednesday 7 October, some temporary measures will be in place to ensure the transition runs smoothly. During this period, some library services will be disrupted, although other council services delivered through community hubs and libraries will continue as normal.
Services affected
- Access to customer accounts will be limited.
- The online library catalogue will not be available, meaning customers will not be able to
- join online
- search the catalogue
- reserve or renew items
- There may be delays in processing and supplying reserves and they will not be visible on the system.
- Email notifications, including reserve collection notices and overdue reminders, will not be sent for approximately two weeks.
- New stock currently on order may not appear in the catalogue for a couple of weeks while orders are re-established with our suppliers.
Visiting your local library
During this temporary period you can still carry out a number of tasks in person. You can:
- join the library
- use our computers
- borrow, renew and return books
If you need to renew a book, please bring it with you.
Online services
All our online resources and public computers will remain available throughout the transition.
Existing BorrowBox and Libby users can access these services as normal, but anyone who has not previously used BorrowBox or Libby will need to wait until the new system goes live on 8 October before registering.
Reservations
Existing reservations will remain in place, although they may take a little time to appear on the new system. If you have already received a notification that a reserved item is ready for collection, you can collect it as usual. Otherwise, we will contact you when it becomes available.
List and links
- Any book lists that you have created will need to be re-created on the new system.
- Any bookmarked links to library catalogue information will be lost.
